SPARK β GAME
Created in VIST206, this project is a 2.5D puzzle platformer inspired by the Speed Booster and Shinespark mechanics from Metroid: Zero Mission and Metroid Dread. The core gameplay revolves around building momentum and strategically charging and unleashing speed to solve environmental puzzles and navigate complex platforming challenges.

I designed the gameβs Itch.io page to match our visual style and clearly communicate what the game is about.

I created a tileable background pattern, converted gameplay animations into GIFs, and built the layout to highlight key features with matching fonts and colors.

I contributed to developing the custom level editor in Unity, focusing on performance and usability. It was optimized to allow our team to rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on level designs β making the entire development process more efficient and scalable.

I created a set of animated level transitions to make scene changes feel smoother and more dynamic. These helped maintain visual continuity and kept the gameplay experience feeling seamless.
Here are some of the player VFXs that I designed.

Here are some gameplay mechanics I implemented.

This was my first time using Unity, and I focused on the VFX and programming for the project. It was a great opportunity to apply what I learned and explore new tools. Collaborating with the team helped me improve both my technical and project management skills. Overall, the experience taught me a lot about teamwork and dividing tasks effectively.
