THE DEVIL’S DRAW

The Devil’s Draw is a stylish card-shooter hybrid where players step into the boots of a hotshot Californian gambler trapped in a demonic Texas casino. Wagering his very life in the form of soul chips, he must cheat, bluff, and survive the devils’ twisted version of Blackjack. Lose a round, and the gambler is forced into a brutal Texas standoff with the dealer, fighting for a fraction of his soul or dying for good.

Wild cards give you more than a few tricks up your sleeve – leaving you not defenseless, but still definitely out of your wits. You’ve never played Blackjack quite like this. You can pull up cards from under the table, but don’t get caught looking at them too long. Don’t be suspicious.

Go ahead, take a peek at your wild cards. Just don’t stare too long, or that suspicion bar will skyrocket. Once the dealer realizes what you’re up to…well you don’t want to know. Be quick, be sneaky, and whatever happens—don’t get caught.

We’re not always winners — and that’s okay. In Redemption, you risk your life to claw back the years you’ve already gambled away. Hoist your revolver, steady your aim, and fire as you try to take down that dirty, definitely-cheating dealer.

Devil’s Draw was a great project to work on! I learned a lot about creating stylized visual effects and producing interesting technical design. Although I’ve worked on a multitude of mechanics, there is an importance in keeping the integrity of the main design and capturing the feeling of “gambling” your soul. All in all, I’m proud of what our team accomplished and glad I learned a lot from this.
